- Don't stare at me that way. - I said. - Please don't stare at me that way. -
But those eyes won, as always , our battle. They wouldn't stop glaring at me. They had power over me, and I knew it.
Darn it.
- Fine, you win, as always. - I grimaced. She didn't need me to tell her, she knew.
She smiled. At least that's what it seemed to me it was. A smile. And I might sound crazy, or maybe ridiculous, but after you know a dog for 8 years, you usually know their expressions, or what every one of them are, and to me, that one face, the one she put after every battle she won against me, to me that was her smile.
I'll tell you, even though it hurts. But it's my honor to remeber, to tell you about her, to tell you about Shadow.
- So are you still not feeling well kid? - My mom yelled from the kitchen.
I hesitated, but then I looked at her, and my answer came out without doubt.
- No mom, I'm fine, I've just had a miracleous recovery. - I yelled back from my room as I sighed and looked at my dog. My best friend.
- Get ready then! You'll be late for school!-
- Fine. You win this time, but it's your fault if the teacher asks for the homework I didn't do yesterday. -
I looked one more time at her, smiled, and got dressed for school.
School blurred by as always, I didn't exactly think in class, I just waited to get home.
- I'm home!- I shouted as I slammed the door. Of course the first one to receive me was her. Shadow.
- Hello there pretty girl. How was your day? Because my day wasn't so peachy you know?- And she saw my face change from a smile, to a stern look.
- Well yeah, I know it was my fault for not doing the homework, but you could've helped me out you know. -
She frowned.
- Yeah, yeah, do the right thing. Right, whatever Shadow, let's go get some food. -
she followed me to the kitchen, and she layed at the foot of my chair. As always.
-Hey mom, can I go out with Tommy tonight? 'Cause we want to go skateboarding to that one parking lot, yeah, you know the one by Mr. Chapman's candy shop. Ok. Ok. Yeah. Yes mom I know. Yeah, of course Shadow is coming. Ajam... ajam... allright mom. Thanks. Yeah take care. Love 'ya. Bye mom. -
I hanged up the phone and looked at my best friend.
- Let's go Shadow. -
It was like that you know. Every afternoon.
She was my best friend, and she understood everything I said. And somehow, i understood her too. She was like my concience, and she was the one who led me through right and wrong. Yeah, don't ask how, I don't know either, but it worked, and as long as her fifteen year-old stayed good, mom didn't mind Shadow being in the house all the time.
When I was seven my parents surprised me with Shadow. I worked hard to train her, but she learned fast, she was a smart dog.
We had gone trough so many things together. Moving. New schools. New friends. New towns. Etc. And we had stuck together, she always drying my tears after waving my hands at the town I left behind.
As my teenager years started, she was there.
And things hadn't changed much. But that one day, that one day changed my life.
We got home from Tommy's. And suddenly Shadow froze.
Mom took her to the vet. I mean, I knew she was sick. But was the moment NOW?
The vet answered that question. With that one answer I didn't want to hear.
It boomed in my ear. I shouted, but I knew she would suffer.
I had always hated needles. And now I hated them more.
I said goodbye to Shadow. And cried. Heck yes I cried. I bet the vet got a mop out after we left.
She was better off now. But was I?
So sad to lose someone you love so much. A friend, family, or even a pet. But life has to go on. Things happen. And Shadow gave me some of the best years of my life.
And now I am grown, and I still miss her. I leave this letter to you, please don't throw it away allright. I hope it stays where I put it, that the wind doesn't blow it. Thank you for understanding why I haven't visited, and I hope you remember Shadow. She was that dog I had when you weren't there.
Your loving son.

shopping cart (assigment # 3)

Yesterday, I was studying at my aunt’s house. From a moment to other, one of her neighbors knocked the door, it was Mr. Clarkson. He had found Mrs. Hodge, one of my aunt’s old friends from high school, with her little daughter, Kathy. Mrs. Hodge was very altered and crying.
Mrs. Hodge was fleeing from her house; my aunt gave her a cup of tea, and Mrs. Hodge, began telling her story. Everything started yesterday, at the Thanksgiving Day dinner. Her husband, Mr. Hodge, is a drunk, and always came drunk and struck out Mrs. Hodge. But last night he was not only drunk, he was also drugged. First, he had a knife on his hand while looking up for Mrs. Hodge, and as soon as he started the persecution, Mrs. Hodge took Kathy and Bobby, her son, and hid themselves on the closet of her son’s bedroom. Then, he opened the bedroom door and took her by the neck, he slapped, hanged, hit, and pushed her against the wall before leaving Mrs. Hodge unconscious.

Meanwhile, Kathy was crying, Bobby was watching and listening to everything, every single movement, and every single scream of his mom.Next, the man left the house with his son. Later when Mrs. Hodge woke up, she realized that Bobby wasn’t there, so she took Kathy and started packing, and then she went to the grocery, to buy some food. She was planning to leave the city and go to a friend’s house, but the only person who could help her, lived on the other side of the country, but it wasn’t an obstacle. When she was finish shopping she saw something, it was him, he was waiting for her in the car, then he started walking towards her. And she was shaking and scared, so she could just think of how to stop him. She just stay there and five minutes later she sawa dog and butter him so much that he run into her and she jusst stop and hidden behind her husban, so the dog bit him on the leg till he bled so much that he died. She ran to the car and escaped to her friend’s house, which lives in Miami.Since the beginning of the problem Kathy hadn’t said a word, but when they were on the road she asked her mom, why is dad angry? And where is bobby? Mrs. Hodge just hugged her and kissed her on the cheek and kept driving.Later when they arrived to Miami, she went to her old high school, to ask for her friend’s address and phone number which Mrs. Davis, the principal, gave her. Finally Mrs. Hodge found the house, she called to the door and nothing happed. Then she called by phone, but it was dead. She was so scared that she knocked the house next door and a man opened the door and took her to my aunt’s house.

Shopping Cart (Assaignment #3)

I never thought I'd see it happen. I mean, when your mother warns you about things, she doesn't really mean it... or does she? I wish I had known that back then. You see, I'm what you might call a wild child, you know, the one who lives for retarded stunts. My mom was always warning me that someday I might actually get hurt, but I never listened.

It was a friday afternoon, the sun was shining and school was up for the holidays. The day was perfect. My pals and I decided to meet up at WalMart and have some fun with the shopping carts. I kissed my mom goodbye right after saying where I was going. Despite the kiss a a tight lock formed between her eyebrows. "No fooling around the parking lot, Sean. You're gonna get yourself hurt." Mom has always been one to forsee tragedies. Of course I didn't know that. Just like I didn't know lots of things, like the meaning of life or what concrete tasted like. Not thinking about what my mom said twice, I left home with my plans still in mind.

Hours later I was face flat on the sidewalk, my mouth busted against the conrete floor. I lifted my head from the ground to look at my own blood. Hell, even some of my teeth were scattered around. I screamed for help but my words came out only in vowels. My yaw was shattered to dust. One of my friends came up to where I was lying. By the look on his face I could tell I got it pretty bad. I later had a chance to look at it for myself on a glass window. Someone must have called my mother because soon she was there too. She got me to the hospital very quickly, or rather, I was having a really hard time keeping track of time while I bled all over the front seat. I was in the OR for six hours and I came out with my mouth tasting like metal and and the rest of my face covered in bandages. They had to rebuild my jaw, and my nosebridge. The recovery time was from 3 to 6 months. I had my teeth put in 7 months after the accident. It took me almost a year to go back to normal.

I learned a lesson that day. I day of stupid fun is not worth a year of suffering. And I have been on my best behaviour ever since.

...Well, at least I try.

Enjoy,

Road (Assingment #3)

At a first time Zion Land was a completely lone place where only the wind could live on. The entire world was so far away from Zion, that you could hear everything and at the same time nothing. No one was caring about what to do with Zion neither as a touristic place nor as a place to obtain resources. The only person who went to Zion to never ever make something was Roberto; He lived near to Zion and once upon a time he fall in love with Paola, and she lived crossing from Roberto´s House to Zion.

Roberto was so in love with her that next he ever meets her; he went every day to her house. At the time he was walking from his house to Paola´s house he always made the same road in Zion´s Field, but he never watch the field because he was always thinking in Paola´s face and stuff. At the time he had two years gong with Paola he decided to confide hi love to her and he said: "The next time I come to her house I´ll bring with me a marriage ring". At the next morning he took the grandmother´s ring and he put it in his hands. While he was walking to Paola´s House the ring fall off from his hands at the middle of Zion´s field, he turned around and watched that there were two road scars in the field, and after that he started crying. He remembered that his older brother was never at home at the same time he was at home and also that Paola´s hand had already a ring. He becomes so dad at the committed suicide in that place, after his dead the road to Zion was traveled by everyone and Paola never saw Roberto again.

Buttons (Blog Assignment #3)

There was once a little boy named Robert who found buttons really interesting, especially those with peculiar colors and shapes. Since he was eleven, he collected the buttons he liked the most and placed them in a jar. The special thing about the buttons he collected was not just their uniqueness or peculiarities, but what those buttons reminded him of. For example, when Robert was about five years old he had a favorite shirt. He wore his washed-off navy blue shirt with pride in his face. Of course, when he got older the shirt didn’t fit him anymore, so he pulled off one of the buttons of the shirt and kept it in his jar. He did the same with every “lucky” shirt he had over the years and also with one of his beloved grandfather’s old coats. He treasured his collection of buttons greatly because they were all significant to him.

Now, eighty-five years later, Robert has many, many jars full with very diverse-looking buttons from his past. He doesn’t collect buttons anymore, for he knows there is no point in collecting significant buttons from his present if he is not going to live enough to be able to actually call them “memories”. Instead, he now sits in his bedroom and plays with all of his acquired buttons with great joy. After all, they mean a lot to him and mostly now, since his wife passed away and has no one else besides his own self to spend time with. Every thing in his life he once had is now gone, his youth, his health, his energy, his family, everything except for his buttons, which he likes calling “memory aids”. By looking at his buttons Robert is able to remember the time of his life, or that special someone each one of them represent. Unfortunately, due to his starting Alzheimer’s symptoms he sometimes finds himself looking at buttons without being able to recall what they represent, but instead of beating himself up with frustration, he just grabs another button from his jars and looks at it patiently waiting for any memory to come to his mind.

walking(assigment#3)

It was a happy family and it was mom and dad and their baby son. Everything was perfect until they decided to move to another house. The new house was big, with many rooms and with a great structure but it was very far from society, the house was next to a big forest where everyone says that there were ghosts. They don't care because they don't believe in that stuff.

The first week the family feel that the house was very cold, even when the heating was on. The baby was always in his room playing with baby's stuff.

Mom was always in the kitchen or cleaning something. Dad was in the living room with the newspaper. A normal family. Until one day the mother hears that the baby was talking alone saying things like "oh my god! lets play with something else" and things like that. Maybe it was an imaginary friend, everyone has one of those. But the mother starts to worry because she starts hearing another voice saying "it's too late, tomorrow she'll play with you again."

The mother freaks out and run upstairs to see what was happening. When she enters the room she could only see her son in the floor playing alone.

- With who were you playing honey? - the mother says trying to sound calmed.

- I was playing with a friend, she is awesome! - the son says very enthusiastic.

- And where is she right now?

- I don't know, she went to the forest with her mom.

- But no one goes to the forest at the middle of the night, bears can eat people there.

- But they are already dead. They live there.

I like this ad because breast cancer is a very serious problem many people, either men or women are facing throughout the world these days. This advertisment seeks to remind everyone in the world to take action and join the fight against breast cancer. Even though it look very simple and minimalist, its message is really clear and I believe we don't need anything else to trigger our interest for helping people who have this disease.
People need to look at advertisements like these one more often, so they can be aware that many people, in this particular case people with breast cancer, need our help and support.
I believe the ad is succesful in delivering its message because it is simple, concise and everyone can understand it. It really interested me since I saw it because a few months ago I got checked because there was a possibility that I had breast cancer, but fortunately I didn't. Even though my tests came negative for cancer I truly understand people going through this situation and I wih more poeple could take part in fighting cancer.

Aids Awareness

This one has been in my youtube favourites for a while now. I guess now you know this is not a poster but a comercial. I think the frame I posted could work as a poster just fine. For those of you who would like to see the video, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDr7DssRm-w (Parents, beware! It's funny... but sort of graphic)

You might notice (if you watched the comercial) that this poter is directed mostly to the gay comunity. But still, homosexuals aren't the only ones getting aids now a days, are they? So the target audience would be anyone who's sexualy active.

"Live long enough to find the right one" means that it is likely that you're going to make some bad choices (with love and/or sex I mean), and that when you do you have to be smart enough to take care of yourself (by using protection) so that you don't die before you get it right.

I think this poster/comercial is rather creative and gets the message across is a somewhat comical manner so that you don't forget and you really pay attention to what it is trying to say.

Let alone the fact that "Live long enough to find the right one" is a very catchy frase.

Enjoy,

A baby

Well i really thin this is a good picture, poster or however thing you would like to name it; it is really Impactant and Strong in a way many persons sould shock at this. You may know that I´m not a person who is againt the abortion, but belive me that this make me think it a little more better and also it makes me think a lot.

Oviousley the subject is no abortion, or to abolish the abortion; the target audience is all those guy, teenagers, who want to have sex wothout protection and don´t want to assume the counsecuences. The main purpose I can find is to make concience in those teenagers with a theme that is somethin really important to many of them that is the religion and that is someting so true that can be turned in to something really cruel, obiously it has a sucsesful point and it is some kind of beauty of photography.

Thanks a lot for reading and understanding hope you like it and be happy.

"From all the places I can stay with it, with you is allway the better Place" (8) EGB.

silence kills

At the moment i saw it i liked it!

Talking today about it, would keep them alive;)

*What subject is the ad addressing?
It means that parents have to talk and comunicate to their children, not only parents, any other person, who knows a teenager , who may be in a problem , or not, they must talk about it.Its like the quote, "Dont leave for tomorrow what you can do today"We must talk as soon as possible, and save a life.

*Who is the target audience?
This is for everybody, but most of them is for parents

*What is the intended purpose?
To convinced adults in general to talk to the teenagers about suicide , and let them see that there are so many ways to solve things, and finishing with their live is not an option.

Many of the suicides, are caused because parents never talk with their kids, if you dont do it tomorrow you may feel bad about it.

*Is the ad successful in achieving its purpose?
Of course it is, its says silence kills, an it is like shocking, because you realized that it is true, and not only in this case, talking is always the solution.

Where my kid is at.

All right people, first of all, HAPPY FRIDAY =D
I'm so glad x)
Well, I'm not sure if we were supposed to do this as an entry, but oh well.
Here is my picture.
So first of all I think it adresses the parents, it tells them to take care of their children, that the world isn't as safe as it was a few years ago, and that they have to know where their kids are at, so that they don't go getting into drugs, and all those sort of things.
Does it work? Well, that's pretty much up to the person that reads it, but I think it does work, I mean, no parent wants to find out their kid has been getting into things he shouldn't. So, parents who care, will of course listen to it. I hope.
Because it's purpose is pretty good, I mean, besides knowing where your kids are and who they are with (without gettin too nosey, because then people get mad), makes a better communication and a better relationship as parent son/daughter, and keeps them from things that won't do any good.
Well people, I hope you liked the picture.
Have a great weekend, take care. =)

Assignment #1 Feedback...

Great job guys! I knew I would get something very very interesting from your team, and I was right. The stories were awesome. However, only Monica T., Monica P., and Arym completed the assignment correctly, so they will get full individual credit. The others will get partial credit, and your team will also get partial credit because not all of you completed the task.

Remember, this is 20% of your grade, so you have to make sure that you follow directions closely!
